The approach of Islam to elevate the human self and get it closer to God is realistic, comprehensive, rational and direct. Mankind is a complex-though marvelous-creation of God. Needless to say, it is only the Creator Who could know precisely the intricacies of the human soul, and how to elevate it far and beyond. Divine messages are like “users’ manuals” of this creation. Prophethood in Islam

Prophethood is not unknown to heavenly revealed religions, such as Judaism and Christianity. In Islam, however, it has a special status and significance.

According to Islam, Allah created man for a noble purpose: to worship Him and lead a virtuous life based on His teachings and guidance. How would man know his role and the purpose of his existence unless he received clear and practical instructions of what Allah wants him to do? Here comes the need for prophethood. Thus Allah has chosen from every nation at least one prophet to convey His Message to people. (more…)

I would like to start with a question: Why is faith made as the basis and primary pillar of religion?

It may come to the minds of some people, especially in this modern age when concrete and visible things are given remarkable consideration, that apparent good deeds like charity, good treatment of people and fighting for the sake of Allah should be given preference to faith. Hence, why Allah gave such a sublime position to an inner thing although we evaluate people by the activities they undertake in our sensible world not by the concepts they have in their hearts or consciences. We had revealed a wide seam of hatred for Arabs and Islam in the bedrock of our national character

America’s long festering animus toward Arabs and Islam has finally arrived. From black tie affairs to your local barbecue, you can see it in the U.S.A. You can hear it, too, whispering in the White House and booming from Capitol Hill. Language that would get people fired if applied to blacks or Jews now passes without comment when used against Arabs and Muslims. It can be found somewhere, every day, in almost every newspaper and TV news show in the land. We tend to view this disturbing trend as the result of two, or twenty, or fifty years of politics and events. But we are children of a history we do not know. The roots of our “new” bigotry stretch through our racist American past to a thousand-year old blind spot, one big enough to drive half the world through. It’s time to learn where we came from. MULTICULTURAL VOICES
A Canadian-born Muslim woman has taken to wearing the traditional hijab scarf. It tends to make people see her as either a terrorist or a symbol of oppressed womanhood, but she finds the experience liberating.

I often wonder whether people see me as a radical, fundamentalist Muslim terrorist packing an AK-47 assault rifle inside my jean jacket. Or may be they see me as the poster girl for oppressed womanhood everywhere. I’m not sure which it is. (more…)

ISLAMIC TOLERANCE TOWARD NON-MUSLIMS

Islam is the religion of mercy, forgiveness and tolerance toward all people, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims. The most salient evidence and brightest proof to this fact is that Islam has never compelled anyone against his free will, to convert to it. Hence, the idea of compulsion associated to Islam is by no means true. Islam is, rather, a call that strongly adheres to quiet dialogue that aims at distinguishing right from wrong so that those who believe in it would do so with full conviction and satisfaction and those who disbelieve in it would do so with free will. Life after Death
