I love to read revert stories. It is amazing to me how people come to know about the love of Allah and the way of life in Islam, and how many come to the conclusion that Islam is the Truth out of many different ways of life. This is a miracle of our faith.

I would like to tell you how I, too, found the Truth. Part of this was written when I moved to Virginia around December 2002. Read the rest of this entry »

Malcolm X from darkness to light

malcolm_x_-_mosque2Born in poverty and obscurity on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska, Malcolm Little, the fourth child of Earl and Louise Little, rose to become one of the most dynamic Black Nationalist leaders of his time.

He felt the sting of racism and was denied opportunity from his earliest years, from most, if not all, of the existing institutions of the day. Without the possibility, the hope, of upward mobility, with less than a ninth grade education, a life of crime was practically inevitable for young Malcolm.

After his arrest and subsequent incarceration, Malcolm began reading a variety of literature made available to the prison by a rich philanthropist. Read the rest of this entry »

AT A TIME WHEN ISLAM IS FACED WITH HOSTILE MEDIA COVERAGE PARTICULARLY WHERE THE STATUS OF MEN IN ISLAM IS CONCERNED, IT MAY BE QUITE SURPRISING TO LEARN THAT ISLAM IS THE FASTEST GROWING  RELIGION IN THE WORLD, AND EVEN MORE IRONIC TO IS THAT THE STATISTICS SHOW THE MAJORITY OF CONVERTS TO ISLAM ARE WOMEN!

How I came to Islam

yusuf-islam-cat-stevenseAll I have to say is all what you know already, to confirm what you already know, the message of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as given by God – the Religion of Truth. As human beings we are given a consciousness and a duty that has placed us at the top of creation. Man is created to be God’s deputy on earth, and it is important to realize the obligation to rid ourselves of all illusions and to make our lives a preparation for the next life. Anybody who misses this chance is not likely to be given another, to be brought back again and again, because it says in Qur’an Majeed that when man is brought to account, he will say, “O Lord, send us back and give us another chance.” The Lord will say, “If I send you back you will do the same.” Read the rest of this entry »

Jemima Goldsmith: Why I Chose Islam?

Posted by Try islam Team February - 15 - 2008 - Friday ADD COMMENTS

The media presents me as a naive, besotted 21 year-old who has made a hasty decision without really considering the consequences thus effectively condemning herself to a life of interminable subservience, misery and isolation. Although I must confess I have rather enjoyed the various depictions of a veiled and miserable “Haiqa Khan” incarcerated in chains, the reality is somewhat different. Contrary to current opinion, my decision to convert to Islam was entirely my own choice and in no way hurried. Read the rest of this entry »
