1. What is the Qur’an ?

The Qur’an is an Arabic word derived from the verb iqra’a which literally means put letters as well as words together or read and the Qur’an means the words which are read very frequently and the Qur’an used practically for the words of Allah whether the last message that is this Qur’an or the previous messages which revealed to previous messengers like Jesus Moses Ibrahim (P.B.U.T) etc…However, people commonly use the word Al-Qur’an to mean this Qur’an. Allah has honored the Muslims with His final revelation to humanity. The Qur’an is the only existing record of divine revelation that is free from distortion and fabrication. Nothing has been added and nothing taken away. False­hood cannot approach it from any quarter. It is still in its pristine state today as it was revealed by Allah and brought into the heart of Muhammad, who conveyed it to his com­panions, who in turn passed it on to those who came after them. In the Holy Quran we read:

“‘Haven’t the unbelievers seen that the heavens and the earth were joined together [in one singularity], then we clove both of them asunder.” [ qur'n 21:30]

In Islam there is absolutely no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to Allah is concerned, as both are promised the same reward for good conduct and the same punishment for evil conduct. The Qur’an says: And for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women. (2:226)
