polygamy-in-islamJudaism originally enacted polygamy. The Torah states that Prophet Solo­mon had three hundred wives and seven hundred slave girls. In some parts of the world, a single man may have ten wives. Before the advent of Islam, po­lygamy was an established practice in the Arabian Peninsula. Even in Chris­tianity, only men of religion were pro­hibited to have more than one wife but such prohibition was eventually ex­tended to include other categories of people. Parents Rights: what kind of rights are they?

Parents-rightsThe biggest right over mankind is that of Almighty Allah. Emaan (Faith) in and obedience to Him are our first and foremost duties. After these are the responsibilities of domestic life and fulfillment of these responsibilities by trying to correct and construct the domestic life, is a social need as well as a religious duty.

Parents deserve our highest esteem. They are entitled to the foremost rights. Allah, has decreed, that you worship none but Him and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life. Read the rest of this entry »

Divorce In Islam

hearts-divorce-familyProphet Muhammad (peace be on him) has said that of all things permitted, divorce is the most hateful in the sight of Allah. Nonetheless, the provision for divorce is there after due deliberation and serious thought as prescribed in the Qur’an. A recent report shows that almost half of the marriages end in divorce. Reasons for this high incidence of divorce vary from lack of understanding and temperamental incompatibility between the couples, to lack of respect towards each other’s needs and sensitivities.
